Changes in each Jimping release, newest first. To update, download the latest version from the home page and run it. Your settings, lists and history are kept.
1.0.2
Latest
New
Code signed. Jimping and its installer are now signed, so Windows shows a verified publisher instead of an unknown one.
Mute button on the toolbar, next to history and settings. Ctrl+M works too.
Recent targets. The arrow next to the target box lists the hosts you traced before. Click one to trace it again.
Route changes say what changed. When the path gets longer or shorter, the alert names the router that dropped out or joined. Hover the entry in the Route log to see every hop before and after.
Improved
The first launch opens an empty trace tab instead of starting a trace to 8.8.8.8.
1.0.1
New
Resume where I left off, a new Startup setting. When it's on (the default), Jimping reopens your trace and watch tabs from last time. Turn it off to start clean each time.
Fixed
Saved watch list names keep their spaces instead of showing underscores. Lists saved in 1.0.0 can be renamed with Edit.
An empty trace tab now says "Enter a target and press Start" instead of looking stuck.
1.0.0
First public release.
Included
Constant traceroute with loss, latency and jitter for every hop, and a 10 minute heatmap.
Added latency per hop. Routers that are only slow to answer pings are recognized and not blamed.
Route change alerts with a choice of sounds and a taskbar flash.
Watch lists: paste IPs or host names, save them, and ping them all, with outage alerts.
History and playback: every probe is saved to CSV and can be replayed at up to 600 times speed.
Tabs for several traces and watch lists at once, Instrument and Signal layouts, and local or UTC time.
